I am wading into my Xmas gift BluRay pile.

Captain America first, then Super 8. Maybe Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes if not sleepy.

In case you weren't counting (or didn't remember, or didn't care), that Invisible Girl episode was the other ep from the 1st season I didn't care for. For some reason invisibility seems to give that gal super strength too, cause she just pulls Ol' Cordelia right up through the ceiling. Also the final shot, with the chairs with the invisible people sitting in them, the way they moved did not look at all like people were sitting in them.

I really like Spike. I knew when he showed up on Angel that he had been on Buffy. Beyond it being mentioned, I mean. I don't think I had seen him on any of the bits of Buffy I had seen, but I knew about him through cultural osmosis. I also knew about Drusilla, thanks to the Corona user who went by that name. I knew less about her than romy, of course.

Good ol' romy!

I don't think I knew Drusilla was played by Martin Landau's daughter until a few years ago. I'm not sure how I found out. I probably got curious and looked up her IMDb page to see if she had done anything post-Ed Wood.

I'm not watching much filmed stuff lately; instead I have Kitten-Vision. I'm fostering five month-old kittens in a spare room until they're old enough to be altered and adopted out. It's a hoot: fighting, pouncing, fighting, playing king of the hill, fighting, scattering when I sneeze, fighting. They're quite intrigued by the computer and the clicky click noises I'm making. Later we may see kittens fly through the room when they attack my feet and try to eat one of my toes. Socks are a necessity.

On to the mummy episode. It was written by the writers of "The Pack." I think they must have worked all the "HEY LOOK THE KIDS ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL REMEMBER HIGH SCHOOL IT WAS JUST LIKE THIS" stuff out of their systems, because this episode isn't really annoying me at all so far. I'm a third of the way through it.

Second season Xander looks skinnier to me than first season Xander. Did he lose weight in between seasons? Was he on drugs? It's my understanding that it always means you're on drugs if you lose weight.

It sort of reminds me of the time Matthew Perry was on drugs and Chandler lost a lot of weight.

Hey, it's Seth Green!

Buffy's mom looks like a cross between Blythe Danner and Susan Sarandon.

I'm supposed to believe this Inca chick is sixteen? Ha!

My guess is that the gag with Sven will be that he speaks excellent English.

After reading all this I feel inspired to rewatch Buffy myself. After saturday I should have whole chunks of new time on my hands, this should fill them nicely.

Watching "Halloween." Apparently, Buffyverse vampires can be recorded via video camera. I didn't figure they would be able to, since they cast no reflection. Most vampire mythologies that make it so that vampires can't see their reflection also make it so that their image can't be captured on film or video.

I guess if a Buffyverse vampire were tech savvy enough and wanted something non-mirror-y to serve as a mirror, he could run live, reverse-image video feed of himself on a large screen. It would probably be a little choppy, but it's better than nothing.

About halfway through The Good Guys w/ Colin Hanks. It's a shame this got canceled, because it's awesome.

I watched last night's episode of Don't Trust the B-- in Apartment 23. I'd seen the pilot and most of the 2nd episode. It's stupid, but pretty damn funny. It also doesn't have a laugh track, which is AWESOME.

Finished "Halloween."

Liked Nega-Giles.

The running gag where Oz sees Willow and asks, "Who IS that girl?" is cute, but it also feels forced.

I'm attracted to Martin Landau's daughter, but the spotty British accent and dreamy-spacey girl routine (it's like River all over again!) make her less attractive.

A word or two about the show's opening credits:

The first season had some dude narrating about how Buffy was the slayer, and whoever did it sounded like he was trying to sound epic without the voice to pull it off. The voice was replaced in the second season by (I'm pretty sure) the voice of the actor who plays Giles. I like the Giles version a lot better.

Sometimes, it's not even there, and they just go straight into the theme song.

The first time I heard the theme song, it grated on me a bit. I figured it would probably be replaced by something that felt more like a theme later on in the series. It only took a few episodes before I changed my mind about it. Now that I'm twenty episodes in, I get a warm feeling every time I hear it.

I like the part where the guitar squeal sychronizes with Willow holding out her hands and screaming.

* * *

I've noticed German text flashing past during the wolf howl in the opening. I could see that it was Fraktur font, and that part of it read "mache uns Götter." I figured it was a bit of Bible. I finally decided to step through and see how much more of the text was visible.

Turns out it is from the Martin Luther translation of the Old Testament. Here's the full verse:

"Da aber das Volk sah, daß Mose verzog, von dem Berge zu kommen, sammelte sich's wider Aaron und sprach zu ihm: Auf, mache uns Götter, die vor uns her gehen!"

It's the first verse of the thirty-second chapter of what most German Bibles (thanks to Luther's lasting influence) call 2. Buch Mose and most English translations call Exodus. (It's from the "Golden Calf" section.)

Here's the KJV translation of the same verse:

"And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us."

Watching the latest "Person of Interest".

The show is okay, not great, but pretty good.  I'm watching it while doing other stuff on my computer.

Right now I am watching the clock waiting to get the hell out of here for the weekend.  Why does the last 2 hours on a Friday afternoon last just as long as the rest of the week?

Dalty - I hope you have had several glasses of Shiraz by now, I wish I have.

I'd put Glenn Martin DDS on my list a while back, and just now watched the first episode called Amish Anguish. It's pretty great. On tv.com people are giving it low ratings and calling it inappropriate, which I suppose it is because it's on Nickelodeon. It should probably be on adult swim. Here's an example of the show: the son meets up with this 16 year old Amish girl (who's considered a wrinkled old crone because she's 16 and not yet married), and they decide to get married. Eventually Glenn Martin gets in trouble with the Amish and has to get the hell out of dodge with his family. While fleeing, the son calls out to the girl saying he never got to see her ears. She pulls back her bonnet just enough to show an ear, and an old Amish guy immediately screams "WHORE!"

I also watched the first episode of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret with David Cross and Will Arnett (both of whom were both also on Running Wilde, which was a current show at the time). It was pretty great too.
