In a case of online he said, she said, now Mike Fleming at Deadline is reporting that HitFix's scoop is 100% wrong and that Logan Lerman has no chance of being cast as the new Spider-Man. Deadline goes so far as to say that Lerman is "not on the list of candidates being seriously considered."

A source speaking to HitFix has informed them that Logan Lerman is very close to being offered the part of Peter Parker in Sony's Spider-Man reboot film. While the site says that Lerman would be the likely actor we'll see in the movie, contract negotiations have not yet begun.

Percy Jackson leading man Logan Lerman had the press repeating his words when he claimed that Sony Pictures had expressed their interest in having him play the new Peter Parker in the rebooted Spider-Man film. "There have been a few discussions, it's definitely something I'm looking into," Lerman said to Billy Bush on Access Hollywood. "It's one of my favorite characters ever and I'm a huge fan of the series. I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it."
But when The Hollywood Reporter contacted Sony what they were told was something different: "No offers have been made, nor have any business discussions been made with Lerman," said an anonymous studio rep. However, the Reporter did add that Lerman's name is on a long list of young actors that could be called to audition for the role. Still, narrowing that list of candidates down is still a ways off; the trade even stated that the deal isn't final between Marc Webb, the movie's director, and the movie studio yet.
