Warner Bros. has finally given The Apparition a firm release date, and it's August 24, 2012.

Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl, the upcoming thriller Black Swan) has joined the cast of The Apparition as a graduate student looking to get started with his life after college. He joins the previously cast Ashley Greene who is playing the female side of a couple haunted by a supernatural presence.

The supernatural thriller The Apparition is scheduled to go into production on February 1 and the first cast member announced is Twilight star Ashley Greene. To be directed by Todd Lincoln from his own screenplay, the film is a Dark Castle production. Joel Silver, Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are the film's producers. The only logline for the film's story comes from Variety which describes it as about a young couple that are menaced by a supernatural force released by a college experiment.
