Arnold Schwarzenegger's next project will be the actioner Black Sands. The film's first day of shooting has now been scheduled for April 1, 2011.

In the movie Schwarzenegger will play a lone man who takes a stand against a private arms manufacturer stationed in the southwest. Deadline summarizes the feel of the screenplay as Man on Fire meets High Plains Drifter.

Directing Black Sands will be Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy, the duo that made Act of Valor. Relativity Media is scheduling the release of that movie, which stars actual Navy SEALs in the roles, for February 2011.

Sergio Altieri and Kevin Elders wrote the earlier drafts of the Black Sands screenplay. Skip Woods (Swordfish, Hitman) came in recently to do a rewrite.
