Universal Pictures has made a preevtive move and purchased the screen rights for Demonologist, an unpublished manuscript written by Andrew Pyper. The project is set up at the studio for Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis and his business partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey to produce.

Pyper's manuscript will be sold at auction soon. Universal made the early move to grab the rights after sparking to the story's concept, that of a professor who must find a way to get rid of a demon that has taken possession of his daughter.
