Producer Brad Fuller has given his fans an update on his blog about where the sequel now stands.
"We have busted our ass to get that movie going! The script is great- dare I say, better than the first. Shannon and Swift have outdone themselves. We are working with New Line to get that movie going. I had hoped to be able to tell you that we started prepping the movie, but that isn't the case. We are hoping that New Line decides get us started early next year."

Producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller have been working with screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift on a script for the sequel. So far one of the items on the list of things they're considering is taking Jason and putting him in a colder environment. "We also want to bring things [the fans] haven't seen before and one of the things that they haven't seen before is Jason in the snow," Fuller told CHUD. "They haven't seen that before."
Form also revealed that the plan is to have the film out in theaters for the summer of 2010 and that they are still considering filming it in 3-D. However, if they want to add that extra dimension on to the movie the production needs to ramp up and be filming by this winter.
