I agree! he seems too scrawny, too "Baby-faced". And I'm not so sure I like Chris Pine, either. He's gonna be too recognizable as James Kirk, and when Jordan inevitably goes into space, It'll be all too easy to associate the two movies....

I think they're still shooting to young. Jordan was supposed to be a veteran fighter pilot, as far as I'm aware. Ryan Reynolds, I do NOT want him in this role, because I want hi working on Deadpool. Bradley Cooper I don't know well enough to judge.
Now, the third name....
I'm actually intrigued by Justin Timberlake for this role. I stand by saying he's still too young, but the guy's a pretty damn good actor, and (if you're interested in such things) he's likely to draw a ton all by his very presence to the box office.
I haven't scored the movie on the hype-meter, yet. I wait for this announcement to see...
ETA: I guess I opened my mouth too soon.....

No worries. Ryan Reynolds is still signed for Deadpool. He can do both, it isn't considered a conflict of interests. It just means he has to film them in alternating intervals.
As for weather or not Ryan Gosling would have been "old enough" to play Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan was a hot shot test pilot (not a veteran pilot as someone stated). So, being that he's going to 30 this year, I'd say that would put him at the prime age to play a "hot shot" guys in their late 30's to early 40's aren't hot shots anymore. They are pragmatists and cautious (typically). Hal Jordan would have been about that age in the comic when he received the ring.
Never fear though, Ryan Reynolds is 4 years older than Gosling so you have your "older" "veteran" pilot now I suppose.

i'm glad they went full blown nerd on this, with aliens on other planets, etc... instead of forcing any "implausible" storylines into quasi-reality based scenarios like they did with Venom(spidey3) and Phoenix(x2&x3). very excited about Kilowog, although he's probably a very minor character in this.
