Coming Soon is reporting that Sony Pictures Classics has picked Christmas Day to open The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Bear in mind that the report is unconfirmed at the moment.

Sony Pictures is close to acquiring the domestic distribution rights to The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. While the film will have European debut dates in the fall, a domestic distributor deal has been slow in coming, perhaps due to worry about how the audience may feel about seeing Heath Ledger in his final role.
