Christopher McQuarrie is now working on a new script for the Lee Child novel One Shot, the ninth in the author's Jack Reacher series of thrillers. McQuarrie's deal has him adapting the book as well as possibly directing the film. If he takes that second job this will mark McQuarrie's first time sitting in the director's chair since making 2000's The Way of the Gun.
Josh Olson (A History of Violence) worked on an earlier draft. Mutual Film and Cruise/Wagner Productions remain involved as producers.
