A new DreamWorks Animation project is in development called Monkeys of Mumbai. Unlike any of the company's previous movies, the songs and style of Monkeys will be influenced by India's Bollywood style of musical.

Kevin Lima will direct the movie for the studio, making it his first animated film since 1996's Tarzan for Walt Disney Pictures. Lima also directed the live action 102 Dalmations and Enchanted for the same studio.

Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R. Rahman is working on the songs for Monkeys of Mumbai while Wicked lyricist Stephen Schwartz is working on the songs' words.

The story's point-of-view is through two monkeys who are placed in an adventure when a man's wife is kidnapped by a demon king.

"Ever since Enchanted, I’ve been looking for a film musical," Lima told The Hollywood Reporter of his new job assignment. "When DreamWorks Animation approached me with the prospect of doing a Bollywood musical with such renowned collaborators, I knew this was the one."
