Katie Cassidy is the latest cast member for the new Nightmare movie. The blonde-haired actress will play the part of Kris in the film. Cassidy has a decent amount of experience working in the horror genre after playing a recurring role on the CW's Supernatural TV series as well as having a supporting role in the remake of Black Christmas. She is currently being seen on the tube in Harper's Island.

According to Shock Till You Drop, Thomas Dekker is in contract negotiations to join the new A Nightmare on Elm Street. Dekker has appeared on two seasons of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and also stars in Laid to Rest, a horror movie that arrives on DVD next week.

Currently appearing in the scary flick The Haunting in Connecticut, Kyle Gallner has been hired to play the part of Quentin in the new Nightmare. Also known for his multiple appearances on Smallville as Bart Allen/The Flash, Gallner's character in the movie is described by The Hollywood Reporter as "an indie-style guy who runs the high school's podcast, 'Insomnia Radio.'" The closest that Gallner's Quentin comes to one of the characters from the 1984 Nightmare is the one played by Johnny Depp. In that film Depp played Glen, the boyfriend of central character Nancy Thompson.
