Now that The Force Unleashed has been released and sold over a million copies in just five days, the talk has started whether we could see a movie based on the game one day. According to Hayden Blackman, who served as the project leader for the Lucasarts game, the possibility does exist.
"Oh, that would be incredible," said Blackman to the L.A. Times' Hero Complex column. "And it's not impossible. Never say never. George [Lucas] has looked to tell new Star Wars stories through the games and with the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe, and then he has also shown a willingness to let the characters come into the films. Look at Aayla Secura, a creation in the [Dark Horse] comic books who became part of the theatrical films."
With a New York Times bestselling novel adaptation of the game as well as accolades for the vid's storyline, if ever there stood an Star Wars expanded universe concept that had a better than usual shot at getting a greenlight to the silver screen, this IP is it. But will Lucas allow other people to come into the Star Wars movie sandbox that (so far) only he has been allowed to play in?
