Woody Harrelson is the first to be cast in Zombieland and he'll play a guy named Albuquerque, one of the few humans left in a post-zombiepocalpse world. Since we last reported on this project director Ruben Fleischer's deal closed so he will definitely direct the picture.

A new horror-comedy project being developed by Columbia Pictures called Zombieland is mentioned in today's Variety. As written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the story takes place in a world where zombies have overrun civilization. Ironically, the hero of the film is described as "the most frightened guy on Earth," and also happens to be the leader of a small group of survivors looking to escape the ghouls.

An offer is out to commercial and music video director Ruben Fleischer to helm the feature. Gavin Polone will produce the movie through his Pariah Films production house. Sony, the parent company of Columbia, would like to have the movie rolling before cameras by April to place it ahead of a potential Screen Actors Guild strike.
