Michael Clarke Duncan dead at age 54
Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away at the age of 54, from complications suffered from a heart attack he had in July.
Known for his big build and deep voice, Duncan was in the prime of his life. His first movie role was in 1995's Friday, and he had several small parts playing bouncers and muscle men. It wasn't until 1997's Armageddon that he had a meatier role with more lines, playing one of the rough-and-tumble drilling crew drafted into blowing up an approaching asteroid.

The wisdom of Jessica Alba
Elle magazine is featuring Jessica Alba on its December cover and boy, do they have a doozy of an article with the actress in it. Whomever interviewed Jessica must have known that the material was going to attract the interest of several groups, among them Hollywood screenwriters. Whether Jessica was self-aware enough to realize that what she was saying was going to offend people remains a mystery.

Joaquin Phoenix faked it
For two years the manufactured hype surrounding Joaquin Phoenix's strange spiral downward has been with us. Last week the world finally had the opportunity to see I'm Still Here, the so-called documentary directed by Phoenix's brother-in-law Casey Affleck. The film arrived without much fanfare and turpid box office, which might be behind the admission Affleck made to The New York Times two days ago: that Phoenix had faked his retirement from acting and the bizarre personality changes he exhibited during the making of the "documentary". And that rap career thing too.

Modern Family's Sofia Vergara speaks about her best assets
One of the most eye catching qualities about ABC's Modern Family sitcom is one of its stars, Sofia Vergara. She's so hot that when her little sister got a movie part in Fright Night, it was entertainment news. It helps that the show is funny and not reaching for the lowest common denominator, plus its recent Emmy wins will certainly help boost ratings when it returns this fall. But let's face it, Sofia has got a lot of men wagging their tongues at her, and wondering how the hell a guy like Al Bundy could land her as his second wife. This show isn't supposed to be science fiction, right?

Kevin McCarthy, 1914 - 2010
Throughout a career that spanned seven decades in film and television, and with over 100 roles to his name, it's still his starring role in the original 1956 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers that actor Kevin McCarthy will forever be known for. His portrayal of a doctor living in a small town that discovers most of his friends and townsfolk have been replaced by alien duplicates that hatched from pods is easily remembered, and his scene where a panic stricken McCarthy runs down a highway screaming to anyone that will listen that "You're next!" is one of the hallmarks of the golden age of sci-fi cinema.
Yesterday, at the age of 96, McCarthy passed away, in a Cape Cod hospital.

Christina Hendricks, London Fog and Photoshop: not the threesome you had in mind
When it was announced two days ago that Mad Men star and notoriously curvy redhead Christina Hendricks would be the new face of London Fog, a respectible number of headlines appeared on Mad Men, fashionista and celeberazzi blogs. Hendricks, who's never been one to hide her ample curves, is shown in a series of photographs on the London Fog website prepping for the shoot. But in the final ads, was her alluring figure diminished through the wonder of Photoshop?

Megan Fox digs Voltron
Slow news day? Not really but when the former leading lady of the Transformers movie franchise is spotted wearing a Voltron t-shirt I believe that it's worthy of a mention. Maybe the gang making the Voltron movie at World Event Productions would be interested in knowing this little fact.

Remembering Robert Culp
Earlier today an accomplished American actor of modest television fame went out for a walk in the neighborhood surrounding his Hollywood home. Sometime during his walk he collapsed to the ground, perhaps striking his head as he fell. He was eventually discovered by a jogger who then notified authorities, who them transported him to a medical facility.
Shortly before noon that man, Robert Culp, was pronounced deceased, the cause of death listed as a heart attack. He was 79-years-old.
