Michael Clarke Duncan dead at age 54
Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away at the age of 54, from complications suffered from a heart attack he had in July.
Known for his big build and deep voice, Duncan was in the prime of his life. His first movie role was in 1995's Friday, and he had several small parts playing bouncers and muscle men. It wasn't until 1997's Armageddon that he had a meatier role with more lines, playing one of the rough-and-tumble drilling crew drafted into blowing up an approaching asteroid.

Rob Zombie calls Hollywood a "scared town"
As a horror film director heavy metal rocker Rob Zombie has four films notched in his belt: House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, the 2007 remake of Halloween and this summer's sequel, Halloween II. He's also developing a remake of the 1950s monster movie The Blob. When Zombie's Blob remake was announced there was some criticism heard, especially from the quarter that prefer John Carpenter's Halloween to the newer one, that Zombie was obsessing with remakes. Now Rob's said something surprising to CNN about the state of the film business in Hollywood: that they don't want original ideas, they want remakes.

Yesterday the man who played Count Dracula in dozens of Hammer horror films throughout the 1950s through the 70s stared down a man wielding a sword. However, instead of having to worry about being stabbed through his heart actor Christopher Lee was standing in front of Prince Charles and being given an Order of the British Empire -- he was knighted.

During an auction held for the OneXOne charity last week, actress Charlize Theron got the result that she wanted. Up for bid was a kiss on the lips of the Oscar-winner but Theron was having difficulty getting the crowd to make bigger bids.

The avatar of James Cameron is exposed by The New Yorker
I had a moment wondering whether I should file this story about the man making Avatar under "film" or "celebrity" until I came to the realization that, when you're talking about the unstoppable juggernaut that is James Cameron, you file it underneath the category that he tells you to file it under.

Megan Fox wins an award and it's not from MTV or Tattoo World magazine
I know, I'm obsessing over Megan Fox. It seems that every third celeb story on here is about her, but can you blame me? She's been in two movies with giant robots. Has Katie Price? Has Kelly Brook? I think not.

Pamela Anderson puts on her Baywatch bathing suit again and the internet attacks
Spotted cruising down the catwalk at a Miami Beach fashion show this week was former Baywatch beauty Pamela Anderson. While the appearance of Pam is a little unusual these days anyway, what made her worthy of celeb blog news is that she was wearing her old Baywatch one-piece bathing suit. Was that David Hasselhoff in his shorts and beach jacket (sans shirt) spotted making a dash for Florida?

Kate Hudson redefines shopping with mommy
Photographed on the streets of New York this past Monday was Kate Hudson shopping with her young son Ryder Robinson. Of course Kate wasn't really shopping -- she has assistants to do that sort of stuff, duh -- it was for a magazine photoshoot. Not that I don't approve of moms wearing a body-hugging white hooker dress with feather trim on the sleeves while making a milk and produce run to the corner store.

Kate Beckinsale is Esquire's sexiest woman alive
So Kate Beckinsale's Whiteout bombed at theaters but how many other movie stars get to say that they've been endorsed by a major mens magazine as the sexist of their kind alive? Even though Whiteout was all kinds of dumb I have to give props to director Dominic Sena for figuring out a way to get Kate in a gratuitous shower scene. Showing some skin in a movie where 98% of the time your cast needs to be in winter survival gear is a challenge but I'm happy that Sena got that part of directing done right.

This video is why you don't let your cell phone ring at a Hugh Jackman play
During a performance last week of A Steady Rain, some ass in the front row thought that not only would it be alright to leave their cell phone ringer on during the play but that they could let it keep ringing on and on and on and on...all while Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig were trying to act just a few feet away from them.

Director Roman Polanski arrested
It appears that, at long last, the infamous social stigma upon acclaimed director Roman Polanski may be moving toward a final resolution. After being wanted by American authorities for more than three decades for unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in 1977, Polanski was arrested by authorities today in Zurich, Switzerland.

Zooey got married
This past Saturday actress Zooey Deschanel married her fiancee Ben Gibbard of indie rock group Death Cab for Cutie. The two had been engaged since last December and been a couple for about two years. Now while the celeb blogosphere is reporting the new nuptials between Little Miss Emo and Mr. Alt-Rock nobody has photos from the event (which went down in Seattle.) Really, no one? You think that Zooey's publicist could have at least leaked out a couple of shots to People or Us magazine so as to stoke the fire and keep her in the picture. I mean, Microsoft's doing a better job at making sure "leaked" early reviews of Halo ODST get out there so why not Zooey wearing white?

Michael Bay's anonymous buddies beat up on Megan Fox
Of course you remember Megan Fox declaring that her two-time boss was like a certain European dictator who wore a little moustache and lived about 60 years ago. You remember it because it's the sugary pop culture news that's instantly disposable and that you form an immediate value judgment about. That and there's a guaranteed photo of Megan Fox in the piece.

Milla Jovovich is showing her purple bits
Milla Jovovich doffs her clothing -- and I mean all of her clothing -- for a photospread in the fall issue of French magazine Purple. OK, I lied: she wears a baseball cap in one photo. And she's got high heels on in a couple of them.
