Kim Kardashian responds to Jon Hamm's slam
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Tuesday, March 13, 2012
A few days ago, Mad Men actor Jon Hamm made the celeb headlines over a portion of his interview with Elle UK magazine. What Hamm said that got the bloggers talking wasn't about a spoiler in the upcoming fifth season premiere of Mad Men this month but instead about two of pop culture's most notorious ladies, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. Anyone want to take a guess as to what they have in common (and let's be civilized and leave out the known list of venereal diseases, OK?)
Hamm was asked about what his views are of being a celebrity in the year 2012, and he used to the opportunity to comment on how certain young ingeniunes reach 8 million followers on Twitter by showing their hoochies and selling their soul for car insurance quotes. "Whether it’s Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated," said Hamm. "Being a fucking idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly."
F-bombs away!
Never one to ignore an opportunity to mention her side of the story, Kardashian just replied to Hamm's off-the-cuff comments today. Here's what she said:
"Just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview. I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, 'stupid,' is in my opinion careless."
She's right. After all, it shows a certain level of business savvy to leak and then market the hell out of a sex tape of herself, then suck in a cable TV channel to televise the build-up to her wedding (only to have it annulled after a scant 72 days of matrimony.)
Calling Kim Kardashian stupid is wrong. Calling her a media whore? Well, that's different...

I just don't understand the whole "being famous for being famous" thing.
