The new movie trailer for Iron Man 3 is out and it's filled with new special effects the way that some Krispy Kreme donuts are stuffed with calories when judged against other superhero trailer, the new Iron Man 3 preview hits all the marks except for showing us one big wow moment. That's not to say that it doesn't give me good feeling when I watch it. In fact, the dialog promises that hiring Lethal Weapon screenwriter Shane Black to direct the three-quel was a good movie indeed.

Let's watch it together and then talk about spoilers and specifics:

Marvel and Disney's trailer editors did a good job of building the new menace that Tony Stark is facing in IM3. It was just five years ago when, after the huge success of the first Iron Man movie, that people began to question about whether we would ever see The Mandarin on-screen as a villain. In the original Iron Man comics, The Mandarin was pretty much a western stereotype for an evil Chinese man with ten rings that gave him superpowers. Nowhere in this trailer is there any suggestion that the movie's Mandarin's rings will give the wearer superabilities. If that is in the movie somewhere, Marvel's keeping it a secret (for now.)

With the destruction of Tony's Malibu million-dollar view, and placing Pepper Potts in direct peril, the stakes seem raised in a bigger way than what we got with Iron Man 2. Whether this will be Robert Downey Jr's final appearance as the billionaire in the armored suit or not, this Iron Man 3 trailer suggests that the new movie will close out some of the franchise's questions.

Iron Man 3 arrives in North American theaters on May 3.
