Sunday night's second season premiere of True Blood was a big hit for HBO. Viewing figures have been tabulated and it turns out that 3.7 million viewers switched on to watch the show at the 9 PM airing. When the show came back on for a repeat at 11 PM 1.4 million late night viewers were watching.

That makes the show the best watched program since the series finale of The Sopranos two years ago. Ratings for the first episode of True Blood's second season were up 157% compared to the first episode of season one and up 51% from the last episode of the first season. Any way that you slice it, True Blood's audience seems to have sizeably increased.
