Exclusive: Game of Thrones season 2 roundtable

Game of Thrones’s second season, based off of George R.R. Martin’s novel A Clash of Kings, is blissfully due to descend on us in just a few weeks’ time.  And though anticipation for the show’s return couldn’t be higher, there seems to be a growing undercurrent of tension or concern among both the fan and journalistic communities.  Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have changed the name of Asha Greyjoy, Theon’s sister back on the Iron Islands, to Yara?  The way-cool storyline the crippled Bran Stark has back at Winterfell might be cut and moved to the third season?  Daenerys Targaryen’s minimal presence in the novel might be dramatically expanded – with action scenes?

Oliver Stone to show us the Secret History of America

While he started off as a screenwriter of some hit-or-miss movies (try watching 1981's The Hand sober and you'll soon know what I mean), Oliver Stone remade his professional persona by writing and directing one of the biggest critical successes of the 1980s, the Oscar-winning Best Picture Platoon. Ever since Stone hasn't shied away from rocking the boat and making films which showed us the way he views America and its political landscape. JFK, Born on the Fourth of July, Nixon, Wall Street and World Trade Center all deal with real life people or events that still create uncomfortable ripples in the psyche of many Americans.

NBC is taking a shot at turning a Vertigo comic book series into a television series. Midnight, Mass. is the title of the book, a 2002 mini-series created by writer John Rozum. NBC's interest in turning the comic into a show isn't the first time it's happened, but over the years none of the concepts for a movie or TV adaptation closed.

Watch 9 minutes of AMC's new Prisoner

Last week at Comic-Con there was a panel devoted to AMC's upcoming mini-series/remake of The Prisoner. Ever since this project was first announced I've been pretty meh about it; someone has been trying to remake Patrick McGoohan's thought provoking and mind-bending 13-episode series since the 1980s. So I thought, someone finally did. My expectations weren't too high.

First trailer for Spartacus: Blood and Sand

What if Ridley Scott's Gladiator and Zack Snyder's 300 decided to have a baby? It might very well look like Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the new Starz TV series set to premiere in January 2010 on the cable outlet. Blood? Check. Use to slow-motion in battle scenes? Check. Hot women in togas about to make out with each other? Check, check, check...oh, and one more check.
