Exclusive: Game of Thrones season 2 roundtable

Game of Thrones’s second season, based off of George R.R. Martin’s novel A Clash of Kings, is blissfully due to descend on us in just a few weeks’ time.  And though anticipation for the show’s return couldn’t be higher, there seems to be a growing undercurrent of tension or concern among both the fan and journalistic communities.  Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have changed the name of Asha Greyjoy, Theon’s sister back on the Iron Islands, to Yara?  The way-cool storyline the crippled Bran Stark has back at Winterfell might be cut and moved to the third season?  Daenerys Targaryen’s minimal presence in the novel might be dramatically expanded – with action scenes?

Virtuality ratings fall to Earth

Last Friday night's two-hour broadcast of Virtuality, co-created by Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, were low even for the Friday night death slot of Fox. According to Nielsen Virtuality drew in an estimated 1.8 million viewers. That gave the program just a 0.5 rating for the adult demographic slot. Virtuality tied for the lowest-rated program of the evening with ABC's The Goode Family -- except that it was Fox, not ABC, that finished fourth overall for the evening's programming. NBC's programming about Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson's death drew in three to four times the audience as Virtuality.

Virtuality booked for better flight on Fox

Ron Moore's sci-fi drama pilot Virtuality has been bumped up a week and will now air on June 26, 2009 from 8 to 10 PM. The network had original scheduled the show to air as a movie of the week on Saturday, July 4, surely a sign that Fox felt no one need watch it. However, while the pilot now will air on a night more conductive for gathering an audience it doesn't indicate that Fox is considering picking the show up for series just yet. Remember that Fox did not include Virtuality in its upfront presentation last month for its broadcast plans for fall 2009-winter 2010.
