Rock Band and Star Trek team up
Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures and MTV Games are teaming up to promote the studio's upcoming May 8 release of their new Star Trek movie by giving away thousands of Rock band music downloads during the month of April. I'm certain that Captain Kirk would be grinning from his command chair while shredding on an axe that Scotty made in engineering and trying to hit the notes coming down on the bridge's viewscreen.

New lady blood for Ghostbusters game
When news that the original quartet of Ghostbusters would be lending their voices to Atari's new Ghostbusters video game, the news was greeted with much rejoicing from fans. However, once people had time to settle down a new question immediately formed in their thoughts: would Sigourney Weaver be also coming back to reprise her character in the game? For months we've wondered whether the absence of Weaver's name from the Ghostbusters game meant just that.

Marvel pacts on two new MMOs

George Miller talks Mad Max video game
The road to try and make a new Mad Max adventure -- whether in film or video games or both -- is proving to be just as challenging as surviving in Max's post-apocalyptic world. Director George Miller had been gearing up to make a fourth movie called Fury Road but 9/11 put an end to it before one scene had been shot. He's also been working on a Mad Max video game but little is known about where it stood in its development.

The Beatles: Rock Band bows 09-09-09
MTV Games, Harmonic and The Apple Corporation (the one owned by The Beatles, not Mr. iPod) have announced a street date of September 9 for The Beatles: Rock Band. If you thought that this whole Rock Band/Guitar Hero thing was big before, this one is going to be a tsunami.

Watchmen: The End is Nigh and downloading now
WB Games' Watchmen: The End is Nigh was released today and is now available for download on Microsoft's Xbox Live and Sony's PSN networks as well as for the PC. Developed by Deadline Games, the third-person action title lets you play as either Rorschach or Nite-Owl II during the height of their partnership in the 1970s, before superheroes were outlawed in the Watchmen universe.

Mass Effect 2 confirmed with a trailer
A teaser trailer confirming the development of Mass Effect 2 has gone up on BioWare's website for their sci-fi RPG franchise. After confirming your age with the site you'll then see what lies in store for Commander Shepard, the human hero that players made decisions for in the first Mass Effect.

Game over for Aliens RPG?
It's looking bleak for SEGA's role-playing game set within the universe of Aliens. For two years Obsidian Entertainment has been toiling away making the untitled Aliens RPG, without a release date in sight. Now, days after SEGA announced that it has plans to make a new Aliens vs. Predator video game, unconfirmed rumors have surfaced that the company has shut down development on the Aliens RPG, effectively killing it.

The Saw game finds a new home

Bourne again on game consoles
Expect to play more video games based on the creations of Robert Ludlum, writer of The Bourne Identity. Electronic Arts has struck a deal with Ludlum Entertainment that allows the software developer/distributor to make games based on Ludlum properties.

Leaked Star Wars Battlefront III footage
