With less than one month to go until Universal releases The Thing, their marketing is finally starting to increase. Today we were given a redband trailer for the movie which shows off a lot more of the thing we really want to see, namely, The Thing.
October 14 is delivery day for the prequel. I've read the draft that came after Ron Moore turned in the first draft and...I actually came away interested in seeing the movie. John Carpenter's original 1982 movie is one of the best monster movies every made, and while I've always wanted to see a continuation of the story, I was also fearful that whatever Thing idea that came after the '82 movie would be inferior.
While this redband trailer doesn't wash away all of my worries, it does whet my interest more. Why? Because those new, brief looks at the shapechanging, infected humans as the Thing takes them over actually look alright, even though it's computer generated. Nothing is going to approach the genius that effects god Rob Bottin made for Carpenter's movie, but from the lightning quick glimpses of the '11 Thing in motion and eating up more biomass, it doesn't look terrible.
Have a peek at the redband trailer for The Thing and sound off in the comments section afterward. Can you open your heart and give the new Thing a chance?

I swear I've seen that movie and least a couple of times. Is it me or does it look very familiar?
