Kevin Smith is promising more Clerks animated episodes
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Saturday, March 24, 2012

Wasn't Kevin Smith supposedly retiring from making any more movies? That was what the filmmaker said, but I suppose that meant television would still be fair game.
Smith turned his indie black-and-white flick Clerks into an animated ABC TV series 12 years ago. The network paid Smith to make six episodes but only two were ever broadcast. Of course, Clerks: The Animated Series found its audience on DVD and it appears that to those that are privy to the balance sheet ledgers, enough of a profit was made that more of the product should be commissioned.
Smith revealed that more animated Clerks adventures were being thought about when he replied to a tweet from a fan of the show. "Miramax 2.0 and I are hoping to give you new eps weekly next year," he said.
Please note that Smith's reply doesn't state as to what form we might see these new 'toon Clerks shows. The world of entertainment has changed substantially since 2000 and the network broadcast of the first Clerks series, so it is conceivable that these new Clerks episodes could arrive via streaming net service, as a new DVD set or even on a specialty cable channel. I'm sure that more details will emerge from Smith's fingertips in the days to come.
