The road to try and make a new Mad Max adventure -- whether in film or video games or both -- is proving to be just as challenging as surviving in Max's post-apocalyptic world. Director George Miller had been gearing up to make a fourth movie called Fury Road but 9/11 put an end to it before one scene had been shot. He's also been working on a Mad Max video game but little is known about where it stood in its development.
But now Miller has given us an update on his Mad Max game. Speaking with MTV Multiplayer, Miller revealed that the game is still in the early stages of development and figures it needs another two, two-and-a-half years before we can start loading it up on our consoles. "It’s a hybrid game," said Miller to the blog. "I’m really interested in both the game-play but the actual emotional engagement. I’m curious how much you can engage with the characters through the game-play. It’s an opportunity to make a novel."
Miller is still keen on making another Max movie but it almost certainly won't star Mel Gibson. The idea of Miller doing a Mad Max game and giving us a worthy sequel to events with the character past Beyond Thunderdome isn't outside of the realm of possibility considering that Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd and the rest of the Ghostbusters are deeply involved with Atari's forthcoming sequel video game. Instead of donning the black body armor again, maybe Miller can coax Mel to walk in the recording studio and provide the voice for Max in the game.

I would prefer another Mad Max movie but a game will be just fine. One of the things about the Mad Max films is that a lot of video games have taken a...aspect of that film. Perfect example: Fallout3. For those who have played it I am sure you know what I am talking about.
As for an actual Mad Max game. I am down. I think it would be a kick ass game...it just sucks that it will not even be out for another two years...at the minimum....
