Activision has revealed two more playable characters for their Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 role-playing game set for release later this year. In addition to being able to select from such heavyweights as Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and Wolverine, the two new choices are Songbird and Iron Fist -- names that don't exactly make the superhero geek in me sit up and scream "YEAH!" but I suppose more is always a good thing.
The storyline for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 draws upon the comic book publisher's recent Civil War story arc which saw the heroes and villains in the Marvel universe pick sides between registering their secret identities and powers with the govenment (Iron Man's pro-registration group) and those that don't want to reveal who they are or allow any sort of government regulation over what they do (Captain America's anti-registration league.) You will be able to play both sides of the Civil War storyline and fight the other side. Activision and game developer Vicarious Visions are saying that the game's storyline springs off from the comics and won't mirror exactly what ultimately happened in the Civil War comics which saw Cap dead, Spider-Man's identity revealed to the world and several other B and C-list heroes and villains sent off from their mortal coils.
