Punisher: War Zone

I finally got around to seeing this, and I have to say that, aside from Iron Man, this is almost certainly my favorite Marvel adaptation.

Ray Stevenson really nails Frank Castle (but I think he's pretty damn awesome, anyway) and the story could have been lifted right from a comic book. The violence is very graphic, but in a few scenes, it is so completely over the top that it harkens back to the character's comic book roots.

It's a shame this movie didn't get a good release date and tanked as the box office. I think Lexi Alexander did a bang up job, and if you're a fan of the character, this is The Punisher done right.

I've heard this is absolutely awful, but I still want to see it. Looks like I have a date for March 17th.

If you go in with the notion that the movie exists in the universe of the Punisher comic, you'll be on good footing.

I mean, The Punisher does shit that no one should have been able to do and survive (like hand upside down from a chandelier, arms outstretches, whilst shooting to automatic machine gunes in the midst of others shooting at him. He gets them all, but is unscathed himself. That wouldn't happen in real life, but it would in just about any comic book.

The '84 one, while amusing was a lame Punisher movie.

The reboot, while Tom Jane is cool, The Punisher kept getting the shit kicked out of him and usually only survived because of dumb luck. He was more "I'm just lucky to be here" than The Punisher.

In War Zone, Castle don't fuck around. He just shoots the shit out of everyone. He's da muthafuckin' Punisher, yo!

Got this in my netflix queue. I am a huge Punisher fan. I've got the Thomas Jane movie on DVD. Hell, I've even got the 5part miniseries comic book from the 80s in a box somewhere.

We were watching Al-Quaeda, and all this time our security services should have been keeping watch on Jakester's throbbing nutsack!-Dalton's chin dimple
