April 28, 2009 - Drop Dead Fred / project announced

A remake of the 1991 fantasy-comedy Drop Dead Fred is getting underway at Universal Pictures. Rising British comedic actor Russell Brand is attached to play the title character, an imaginary friend who can bring the impossible to life, and the plan is to make this new version more in the footsteps of Beetlejuice and go further with the core concept than the first try did. The screenplay is being written by former Saturday Night Live writer Dennis McNicholas. [Full story]
