Jeff Bridges is going to give it another shot at turning Lois Lowry's young adult novel The Giver into a film. The True Grit actor had once tried to make a movie out of the book 17 years ago for his father Lloyd Bridges to star in and for himself to produce. Now the 61-year-old sees himself sliding into the age where he could take on the challenge of the mature role. "I feel the time is right for me to do it," Bridges told Variety.

Bridges and his producing partner Nikki Silver will be developing the project through On Screen Entertainment. John Heyman, a film financier, will also produce the movie while House of Sand and Fog director Vadim Perelman will adapt the 1994 Newbery Medal winner into a screenplay.
