Timecrimes director Nacho Vigalondo has signed on to direct the action-comedy Gangland, based on a forthcoming screenplay by Pat Healy. The story follows a group of video game developers that want to make an ultra-realistic video game where the player is a criminal. When they turn to real-life mobsters for inspiration for their game, trouble swiftly surfaces for the programmers.

Gangs of New York screenwriter Steve Zallian will produce through his Film Rites company along with Mandate Pictures. Nathan Kahane will get an executive producer credit and Garrett Basch and Tendo Nagenda will also get a producer's credit to be decided in the future.
