May 12, 2009 - Youngblood / writers J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani writing screenplay
Scooped on Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Rob Liefeld gave an interview to MTV Splash Page and let the info slip that the writing team of J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani have been hired to write the screenplay for the Youngblood film. According to the comic's creator, the duo are halfway through the assignment. Liefeld also divulged that the screenplay focuses on team members Chapel and Shaft, and the dynamic between the pair.
"They don’t like each other," Liefeld explained to the site. "Shaft is the new kid on the block in the movie, and he and Chapel have to put aside their differences to save the Youngblood program."
Liefeld also said that, "There are characters that have micro-cameras installed on their bows, their arrows, their semiautomatic rifles, their bo staffs," so that the camera shots will show plenty of action from the team's fights. "You’re getting footage from a thousand angles, from the casing on their weapons to their armor...When Youngblood goes live, the whole word watches."
However, the rocky-skinned Youngblood teammate Badrock isn't a part of the team in the draft that Lavin and Damiani are presently writing. Liefeld explained that the decision to remove the strongman from the team was entirely his decision because Badrock "doesn't fit in the first film."
