How much did it suck? I wouldn't know since I skipped it to watch Chuck. Seeing as how I missed the first hour, I figured tuning in for the second would be pretty silly.

So, it sucks more than Chuck.

Chuck doesn't suck, so.......yeah.

I saw parts of S1 of Chuck and enjoyed it. Not sure why I never really picked it up. It's fun.

The new "Fugitives" volume of Heroes has actually been pretty good. It's still not great, but I've been enjoying it, unlike the last arc from the fall.

As for Jack Bauer, I really enjoyed both episodes from this week when I caught up with them last night. I think they were a step up from everything else this season, and hopefully things will continue to go in a positive direction. I like Juma as a villain much better than Dubaku (Tony Todd rules!), and Jon Voight is usually enjoyable to watch. Hopefully they become a bigger part of the plot going forward.

I will point out again that in the world of 24, government clearances are teh suck. How many people in the White House alone were on the take? Seriously, your ass can get busted if you get so much as a parking ticket and don't report it (and yes, they do find out). I expect that doing business with foreign nationals with known ties to terrorism is also frowned upon.

Sure, it happens that we have spies in the FBI/CIA/etc, but you'd think after all the corruption that we've seen in CTU and the FBI over the years on 24, that they would have developed a somewhat more rigorous screening process.

There you go with your logic again. If you didn't have plot holes you could drive a truck through (yes, if a soldier with an automatic is chasing me, I will chat to a policeman instead of jumping in the car and getting the hell out), Jack wouldn't be getting in trouble every hour on the hour. I just put my brain in "park" and watch all the smackdowns.

Yeah, you're forgetting one of the cardinal rules of the 24 universe: "Thou shalt not have stringent security measures in thou government agencies! How else shalt I place moles, terrorists, and undercover agents in said agencies to frak with thou's puny existence?"

Oh yeah....and this one: "Jack Bauer shalt not take a piss."

I know! I don't know what's wrong with me! Maybe if I went back and watched S1, I'd be just as annoyed, but the only thing that seemed so blatantly off about that season was the obvious stretching of the plot (amnesia?!) to get 24 episodes. Maybe that's just because the concept was new and now it's old and tired. I've just been really nonplussed.

Prediction -- Jack will either die or go to prison and next season, 24 will continue with Freckles.

What happens if 24 ever gets pared down the the half season formats that's become so prevalent nowadays? Will they have to move the show to a different planet that only has 12-13 hour days?

Maybe they'll just make the show into a fraction: 24/2
Maybe they'll re-title it for the new number of episodes: 12, Twelve, Baker's Dozen
Maybe they'll just give up and call it: The Jack Bauer Power Hour Killing Show

I'm waiting for them to cross it with "Life on Mars," and then we'll have "The Jack Bauer Flower Power Hour."

Jack Bauer goes back in time and works with Gene Hunt? AWESOME! The REAL Gene Hunt, too, not Harvey (although I'm warming to the US version).

If you like the real Gene Hunt, are you catching "Ashes to Ashes" on BBC America? A present-day police shrink goes back to 1981 and meets Gene Hunt & co. You can still catch the first ep in reruns this week.

Oh, and ABC has cancelled the US version. Bastards. I don't know why I watch anything on that network any more.

I've seen about 3 or 4 episodes of AtA (which is not the same things as AtM). It's interesting. One of these days, I'll finish it. *sigh* Too much to do and watch.

By the by, I really liked that a major character did not die at the end of an hour, but rather, early on at some more or less random time.

The FBI does not know how to lock down a room or floor of a building, do they?

Nah, the FBI does great at locking downs rooms and floors....it's those pesky recessed ceilings they have trouble with.

These last few episodes have been a lot of fun. It's unfortunate that Tony Todd will only be in a couple episodes though.

Sorry, but this season has been one major laugh-fest. And yet, I keep tuning in - looking for that one moment of salvation that makes this season worth it. (still looking)

Thanks - good to see many of the friends I've missed over the years. I am sorry I haven't played online much (read Traz's latest rant). I feel pretty full of Life lately - work, family, etc. Not whining - but it seems life was a lot simpler a few years ago, when I could and would be able to post daily. I miss it, but I also apprecate where I am today.

It's really good to see the group still together.

I think this season started off decent enough. The parts with the President were boring though, and really left me disinterested. Then it started to drag around episodes 10-12, right before the 2-hour event. THEN, from the 2-hour event and on, it has really picked up the pace and it's gotten my attention again. Now I'm really back into it. Not the best season by far, but it's more interesting than Heroes has been.

I pretty much agree with you, TV, except for the comment about the President. I actually enjoyed all of the early stuff with her. The show is definitely starting to pick back up now that Jack is on the run (again!).

The pace has certainly picked up, but you know what? I'd like to see a much leaner, less padded out season of 24, except that would mean that it wouldn't have 24 episodes. Shit would get resolved before the 24 hours was over. I think it would improve the overall quality of the show if it did away with a lot of the oft-repeated subplots (a mole, sucktastic romances during a major crisis, Jack's rogue/Jack's Good/Jack's Rogue again) and just focused on the nitty-gritty, instead of padding to get 24 episodes.

Before I start bitching, I'll say that, yes, I know I could just turn the fricking show off, but I'm this far along. I might was well ride it out. Plus, I don't recall the show being this stupid. Maybe it has been and I just don't remember. I haven't re-watched any of the previous seasons since they've aired.

Okay....so, WTF?! All the bad guys are clustered in one group around the package, excepting the dude in the forklift, and they decide to WAIT until they're alerted to the other guy's death and scatter before opening fire on the bad guys?! That made tactical sense HOW?!

A helicopter is able to fly without a a flightplan over Alexandria?! Ummmmmm....No. And this is AFTER the FBI has been alerted that the bad guys were working to reclaim the package. Sorry. They can network a million computers over a secure connection in three seconds, but they can't check RADAR?!

And Olivia?! I know politicans are two-timing backstabbers, but it's like this girl has the maturity of a bitchy tween.

The show's not quite Heroes stupid (which I understand has gotten better), but it's getting there.

I thought that about Jack and Tony as well. All the bad guys were out in the open (minus the forklift driver), and they could have taken most of them down with a few well-placed shots. Oh well, this way, Jack gets to wrangle a big rig.

*shrug*

The first several seasons were much smarter than this one, despite still having some flaws in logic. However this year and the season before this one decided to throw out some more logic in favor of dumb action.

Regardless, I'm still having fun with this season. I just wish it was as good as it used to be.
