Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome casts young Adama and his CO

21-year-old Luke Pasqualino has won the part of Ensign William "Husker" Adama in the Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome two-hour pilot being developed for SyFy. In the pilot the British actor, best known for playing Freddie Mclair in the UK version of Skins, plays a much younger version of Edward James Olmos, the future Battlestar commander in SyFy's reimagined BSG series.
In Blood & Chrome, Adama is a recent Viper pilot graduate who's left Caprica to fight in the First Cylon War. Ten years into the conflict the battle between humanity and its mechanical Cylon creations has resulted in a stalemate. Young Adama is eager to prove himself in combat aboard the newly commissioned Galactica, but he finds himself butting heads with the Battlestar's C.O., Coker. The elder soldier has just 45 days left in his tour and wants to be away from the frontlines and the killing. An event surfaces that places the Galactica and both Adama and Coker in a position where their actions could have a deciding impact in the war.
Also cast in the pilot is Canadian actor Ben Cotton. With recurring roles in Stargate Atlantis and Hellcats among his credits, Cotton will be playing commanding officer Coker in the pilot.
Production on the pilot begins in March. Based on what they see, SyFy will consider taking Blood & Chrome to series. If they do there's a good chance the show would debut about a year from now.
