Harrison Ford attached to Black Hats
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Monday, July 25, 2011
With his new movie Cowboys & Aliens opening in theaters this Friday, the management team of Harrison Ford thought it would be smart to let trade magazine Variety know that their client has his next job lined up.
Keepining in tune with the cowboy motif that Ford is performing in C&A, the Indiana Jones actor is now attached to play real-life lawman Wyatt Earp in Black Hats. The movie is based on a novel by Road to Perdition author Max Allan Collins that came out in 2007.
The story sees the older Earp called upon for a favor by the widow of Doc Holliday, his longtime pal and fellow black hat that stood beside him at the infamous OK Corral gunfight decades earlier. In the 1920s, Holliday's missus asks Earp to check in on her son in New York City. The younger Holliday owns a speakeasy and he's been having some trouble from a local roughneck by the name of Al Capone. It's aging cowboy versus young gangster on the streets of the big apple!
One of the writers that adapted Frank Miller's 300, namely Kurt Johnstad, is cracking the adaptation of Black Hats. The producers are Basil Iwanyk, Jason Netter, Rodrigo Teixeira and Fernando Loureiro.
