Game of Thrones S2: NOT 'A Clash of Kings'

You'd know they weren't if you had read the books.

Well, now you are making some sense. :-)

There is one thing we can do to check. Mal, go and look in a mirror. Now, tell me, was there a MASSIVE HOMO staring back at you?
I did what you asked me to do, Dalty. The guy staring back at me wasn't all that massive, maybe about 180 lbs, 6'3". He was definitely a homo, though. Sapiens, to be precise, if his upright and bipedal stance are any indication.
This new making of video focuses on set design, so I think it's kind of cool just because it gives an idea of what locations from the book are making it into the show. Each book tends to increase the size of the world and introduce new locations, and even though the show is growing in popularity and HBO is (according to some) loosening the purse strings I don't expect every location to make it into the show. It's cool to see them talking about Dragonstone, a castle that in the books was built by somebody like Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher to look like it was entirely made of writhing dragons, plus a larger than usual number of gargoyles. They only show one shot of one stone dragon head in this video (one that's also been shown in previous videos), so I continue to get the impression that we won't see much of that fortress (it's not a place that gets a ton of time in the books, either, although between books 2 & 3 I'd say it gets at least a half a dozen chapters, so more than just a passing location). I think, and hope, we get at least some CGI wide shots like we got of Winterfell and King's Landing in S1.
This twitpic by a driver for Northern Ireland film crews lists a bunch of sets that will appear in the show. The Fist of the First Men is one that stands out, and this seems to confirm that was filmed in Iceland instead of NI. The other name listed at the bottom is probably the Frostfangs. In unrelated news, rumored titles for the first two episodes were being reported a week ago: 'The North Remembers' for ep 1 (a cool title, but something that would make more sense for a couple of seasons down the road) and 'Nightlands' for ep 2. GRRM mentioned on his blog some months ago that his episode, # 9, is titled 'Blackwater'.
I know what happens in that episode (tee hee).

Little Jack just woke up.
This is probably the coolest trailer for the show so far. Love Varys's voiceover (straight out of the book). I'll post a youtube link as soon as it's available.
Why is Dany wearing clothes?
Actor Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos in S2, gave an interview to Access Hollywood, and he's a pretty engaging guy. He tells about how they kept the detail about his character having one hand that's been shortened by a digit (I figured they might toss that one, just for being too much trouble). There's some different stuff in the text interview and the videos, so I'll include both. I'm not really sure what all I've seen him in before, but I think he was the guy in 'Braveheart' who was so eager to run away at the Battle of Sterling (I just looked Liam up at IMDB, and he was not in 'Braveheart' ).
That's good because I could not ever root for that cowardly fuck.
Even if he was just an actor playing a part.
Here's a publicity still for the new season showing Melisandre and Stannis (finally, some chain mail!). Pretty cool.
ETA: I guess there were actually 17 new photos released. In the second one warrior woman Brienne can be seen (love that armor).
ETAA: Theon actually has the Greyjoy kraken on his armor! Sigil for the win.
I mentioned in my ^last^ post that the picture of Theon had the Greyjoy sigil on his armor, but I didn't even notice that in the picture of Stannis and Melisandre Stannis's personal sigil of a flaming heart with a crowned stag in the middle is apparent on his armor. Pretty cool.
In other news, here is a new behind the scenes video of filming in Iceland. I've heard in the past that Iceland is actually pretty temperate, but I guess it has its cold areas, too (they filmed on (or around) a glacier). We get out first glimpe of Simon Armstrong as The Halfhand, though he doesn't really look much different than other pictures I'd seen of him when I heard he had been cast.
This Canadian Celtic punk band Irish Moutarde made a rock song out of the song 'The Bear and the Maiden Fair' from the ASoIaF books. I think it's not bad, though I'd like to see the lyrics since they are a little hard to understand. I'll post the lyrics to the song from the books as they are reported at A Wiki of Ice and Fire. I assume that their version isn't necessarily official, since the lyrics to the song are never actually listed in their entirety in the books, the reader just gets parts here and there when the song is sung at various times. It's generally described in the books as being a bawdy song, though I don't think I quite get it. I think maybe the bear is a euphemism for a penis, but maybe it just represents a man, or maybe the song is just about a chick having sex with a bear.

"She sang: My bear so fair,"
"And off they went,"
"The bear! The bear!"

Here's a video where some of the actors and crew talk about how great everything on the show is. I dub this video THURSTY POISON! Pretty crappy band name, eh? It hits all cylinders!

Would you seriously have enjoyed the first season less if there hadn't been any tits in it?
If it were at least decent nudity! I don't remember a single full frontal shot. Besides, sex scenes are no fun unless they show some penetration. For all I know, Khal Drogo and Dany may as well have been dry-humping.
