Never Back Down and Cry Wolf director Jeff Wadlow has come onboard to helm Arena, a sci-fi/action movie project set up at Summit Entertainment.

Written by newcomers Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell, the premise revolves around a group of modern day elite soldiers whisked away from Earth and to a strange place. There they find other squads of warriors but from different eras throughout Earth's history and the terrain is constantly morphing from one extreme to another. The teams of time-lost fighters must then battle each other, with the winning group advancing to take on other fighters that have also defeated their opponents. The script was sold to Summit in April 2008.

Before moving on to Arena Wadlow had been developing a different project for Summit called The Tomb, which is described as a prison break concept.
