Stargate Universe cancelled
Posted by Patrick Sauriol on Thursday, December 16, 2010
Syfy has cancelled Stargate Universe midway through the show's second season.
The show reached its midway seasonal break two weeks ago and is scheduled to return to the channel in spring 2011 with the final remaining 10 episodes.
The second spinoff of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Universe is set on an Ancient starship called the Destiny. A handful of soldiers, scientists and private citizens became stranded on the ship which is on autopilot and travelling through space on the other side of the universe, several billion light years from Earth. The show's production style incorporated a more gritty, "shaky cam" approach to its storytelling than the earlier Stargates, but on its content there was an emphasis on more cerebral, dramatic sci-fi storylines.
Cast member David Blue, who plays Eli Wallace in the show, confirmed the rumor via his Twitter feed earlier today. "Crap. Just heard the news as well. Apparently, nobody decided to tell us ahead of time," Blue wrote. "My rep heard it online."
Screw Skiffy, I'm done with them. They have long ago lost the mission.
They have Sanctuary. Hope it's not next on the chopping block.
They just had a new special ep of Warehouse 13 last week called Secret Santa.
While I found it hard to get into SGU, it just goes to prove once again that NBC Universal (SyFy's parent company) have no clue how to handle science fiction. Look at the way they scheduled Battlestar Galactica in its final seasons. And who can say they have ever watched any of SyFy's "made for tv" movie bombs? One thing is for sure - revamping the name to SyFy. The "Y" seems very appropriate. Why do you not know how to handle science fiction? While SGU was fond of using "ancient stones" a lot, it seems SyFy-NBC-Universal have yet to grow a pair.

i didnt like this when it was called Star Trek Voyager. oh well... i'd only watched a handful of episodes and wasnt really interested in a StarGate spinoff withut an actual working StarGate... that was the problem with this show... the gate just wasnt working... correct?
